Power Jam 2011 at the LargeScaleRC Scrap Yard

Wow, it’s been a couple weeks since my return from Monon Indian where LSN covered the 2011 LargeScaleRC Power Jam and I already want to go back. This location is simply amazing and how can you beat the fact that fireworks are legal everywhere in Indiana all year long! YES! I’m already excited for next year and you can bet LSN will be on location giving you live updates just like we did this year along with the live video feed from RCLargeScale.com.

Here are some highlights of my weekend at Power Jam 2011.

The TRACKS

The Tracks at the Scrap Yard are insane. They are HUGE, clean, well laid out and maintained. They all have nice tall driver stands. They have 3 tracks in all to feed every drivers need for adrenaline filled racing.

.

Main Track – This is big and it’s got all the jumps and turns you could ask for.

Oval/Figure 8 – WOW…talk about action packed. The oval is FAST and the Figure 8 is simply a BLAST.

.

Extreme Track – What can I say, this thing is HUGE! You have to use both sides of the drivers stand to complete it.  Best of all, they have a jump that if it is hit wrong, you end up in the “drink”. Now that’s creative and funny!

.

The Corner Marshals – The Scrap Yard had hired corner marshals all weekend allowing drivers to spend time resting or working on their cars and truck. That was nice.

.

Food and Candy – There was a candy booth and a food truck that had all the goodies you would want and offered by very friendly people.

.

The Pits – The pits had plenty of room for parking and camping including a covered vendor area.

.

The People – The LargeScaleRC team and all the racers were great people and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

.

Location – You have two major airports you can fly into less than 2 hours away. I used Indianapolis and spend the night there before heading to the track. The second night I stayed less than 10 miles away on Lake Safer and visited the very cool Indian Beach Amusement Park (great for the family members who get fed up with noisy R/C’s).

Final Thoughts…

I know you hear this a lot, “if you didn’t come this year, you must go next year”. Well I am telling you, if you are close enough for a roadtrip or can afford a plane ticket you REALLY, REALLY need to see and experience the Scrap Yard. It is truly a piece of LargeScale heaven and I don’t see how you could ask for anything more than what this location has to offer.

I would like to give a huge THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to Troy and his team at LargeScaleRC. You can bet that I will be back next year where I hope to enter and get some track time.
