HPI Announces Super 5SC, Baja 5b, Flux and much more

HPI Baja Flux 5B

HPI offers up all kinds of new toys in Germany

Man look at all this new stuff HPI has had up their sleeve. We knew they were working on a brushless 1/5 scale as we reported that in the recent past. We also knew of some small 2-stroke type engine they were working on for an 1/8 scale. But what they have done is slapped that same 2-stroke into the extended Savage chassis. I am not sure what the demand will be for a 1/5 scale with such low power but hey….at least its 4wd.

Check out all the models of interest below and to see all their other smaller scale models coming soon click HERE.

Super 5 SC Gas

HPI Racing Super 5SC Flux or Gas

HPI Racing Super 5SC Flux or Gas

The Savage drivetrain is super flexible, allowing HPI monster trucks to reach legendary levels of durability and performance! Because of this extreme toughness, HPI designers have Super-sized the Savage to 1/5th scale, taking the Savage to a new dimension! And when we combined this extra-large size Savage chassis with the all-new eXtreme Gas petrol engine, that’s when things really got interesting!

The all-new eXtreme Gas engine may be smaller than the Fuelie 23cc engine, but it’s also lighter, and powering a lighter vehicle than the Baja 5B buggy or 5SC truck (over 20kg). This makes it the perfect match for the Super 5SC!

  • 1/5th scale Savage-based short course truck
  • Savage aluminum TVP design
  • Savage bulletproof drivetrain
  • HPI eXtreme Gas engine system
  • 2.4GHz radio system
  • Front and rear Baja 5SC bumpers and mud flaps
  • Uses Baja 5SC body and wheels

The Savage drivetrain is super flexible, allowing HPI monster trucks to reach legendary levels of durability and performance! Because of this extreme toughness, HPI designers have Super-sized the Savage to 1/5th scale, taking the Savage to a new dimension!

The Super 5SC Flux takes the powerful Flux Tork 2200KV motor and Blur speedo from the amazing Savage Flux HP for truly impressive top speeds and plenty of wheel-spinning fun! The Super 5SC Flux is lighter than the Baja 5SC, so the power of the Flux Tork is a perfect match!

With specialized parts to fit the Baja 5SC body, bumpers and wheels, from the outside the Super 5SC Flux looks just like its petrol-breathing stablemate. It’s only when you switch it on and drive away that its secret is revealed!

HPI Mini 1/8 Scale Gas 2 Stroke Engine

HPI Mini 1/8 Scale Gas 2 Stroke Engine

HPI Mini Gas 2-Stroke Engine

Think of a standard nitro engine…and now imagine:

  • More than double the runtime…
  • Cheaper fuel costs…
  • Widely available fuel…
  • Easier starting…
  • No tuning hassle…
  • Quieter running…
  • Cleaner running…

The brand new HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine combines these fantastic properties with all the excitement of an all-new petrol engine!

The HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine is a gasoline 2-stroke engine with outer dimensions only slightly larger than a big block nitro car or truck engine. This revolutionary size will allow the HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine to fit in RC cars where gasoline engines never could before.

So what are the advantages of this engine over the standard nitro methane-powered engines you’re used to?

Increased Runtimes

The HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine will get at least double the runtime per tank of fuel, meaning you get more fun before refuelling and more bang for your buck!

Hugely Reduced Running Costs

Standard gasoline is much cheaper than Nitro fuel, plus spark plugs lasting much longer than glow plugs, so the HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine allows the RC hobbyist to have extremely reduced running costs.

Widely available fuel

With the HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine, it’s now much easier to find fuel at any full-size car service station, anywhere in the world. Simply fill up a fuel can and grab a bottle of 2-stroke oil and away you go to enjoy your car or truck!

Easier to Start

Just like the engine in the Baja buggies and trucks, the HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine is extremely easy to start and there’s NO fussing with carb settings. Pull the starter cord and off you go!

No Tuning Hassle

Instead of worrying about things like temperature and humidity to fine tune a nitro engine every time you run your car the HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine is much more tolerant with its carburetor settings. The on-board electronics provide fine control and do all the tuning work for you.

Much Cleaner

With the 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine, you no longer have to deal with the “nitro goop” that covers your car after running a nitro engine. With a lower oil-to-fuel mixture compared to nitro methane fuels, the HPI 1/8th scale Gasoline Engine engine will run much cleaner making it easy to clean up your vehicle after running.

A Complete Engine System

The eXtreme Gas engine system isn’t just an engine – it includes the engine itself, electronics to keep the engine running smoothly and cables to connect everything. It’s a complete drop-in solution to adding loads of extra, usable power with a low running cost and maximum impact!

DAC-12 Coverage from RC Racing TV

DAC 12 Video Coverage from RC Racing TV

Check out this video coverage of the DAC 12 Large Scale Racing brought to you by the pro’s of RC Racing TV. This event is located in the Netherlands.

An interesting point to notice if you watch one of the interviews below is they are talking about how Large Scale racing is blowing up and how his event sold out in 20 minutes compared to laste years 2 days. This years driver count was 120.

Now this type of racing in this part of the world is mostly dominated by brands that are not so popular like HPI and Losi here in the US. But don’t let that fool you, these guys are serious and these 1/5 and 1/6 cars are serious machines than can cost thousands of dollars to get to a RTR stage.

Read more about the DAC 12 events HERE.

Enjoy the coverage below and if you want to see more of this profesional coverage like this check out the rcracingtv.com website.

Brushless Losi 5IVE-T SkoPod Kit is now shipping

SkoPod Losi 5IVE-T Brushless Conversion Kit

The kit is here and in stock NOW! Ready to ship to those brave enough to drop in some serious torque and speed into their Losi 5IVE-T. Going brushless in large scale if you don’t own batteries and chargers yet is not cheap but at least now it can be done easily. So if you own a Losi 5IVE-T and want to go electric then read more about this kit below.

RC Car Action Magazine came calling when they got word of this kit coming soon. SkoPod, LSN and TGN provided them with some exclusive video footage while testing this beast of an R/C. They used a good portion of our video on their Radio Control Show found HERE or watch embed down below. Notice the mistake where they called SkoPod SkyPod or would it be SkiPod? None the less we were happy to see our video highlighted like it was.

Part Number: 1020

Product Link: HERE

Press Release:

Own a Losi 5IVE-T and want to have pure raw power at the pull of the trigger? Or do you simply need a quit, clean and maintenance free power plant? If you answered yes to either of those questions then SkoPod has your answer. Their new billet aluminum mounting kit allows you to convert your gas guzzler Losi 5IVE-T into a brushless powerhouse. Their kit is designed to work with the V2 Castle Creation XL System that has already been proven to work great with their HPI baja kit.

Check out their beefy mounts, these things are built for strength but have been lightened and pocketed to keep the weight to a limit. You will also notice the motor is supported on both ends. Something they felt is important for two reasons. One is this motor is heavy and these 1/5 scale trucks take a serious beating and they wanted to keep that motor planted. The second reason is the stock gas engine being mounted in four places in the center of the chassis acts as somewhat of a chassis stiffener . The SkoPod kit uses these same 4 mounting holes to replace the chassis key structural element.

HPI shares pic’s of their 1/8 Scale Gas Savage Buggy Apache

LSN mentioned this back in a previous post last year and now they have finally started to release some product shots of these new 1/8 gas two stroke powered cars and trucks. The original press release just showed the profile of a monster truck but as you can see here they are going to release this engine platform in several models. Which I think is great!

Looks like you have a Buggy style chassis, a Savage type and also the super cool Apache model. Way to go HPI!

Hemi Boots back in stock

Hemistorm Boots Back In Stock

Great news, Hemistorm has gone back into production of their popular Hemistorm axle boots. They have been missing from the shelves of dealers for some time now and they are once again stocked back up. So bug your favorite dealer to call TGN to get them back in stock.

Product Link: HERE

Part Number: 3600

These are the first NON rotating axle boots to hit the Baja market. They replace the stock axle boots, and provide all the protection you ever wanted for your drive train set up. Since they do not rotate, they will not be dealing with the same wear as the standard boots.

Drive cups, driveshaft and differential bearings are all very well protected and therefore have a much longer lifespan. The HemiBoots are tough enough to handle any type of surface you run them on. Installation is simple and done in a matter of minutes. Clear installation instructions are provided on the back of the package.

HemiBoots consist of three parts on each side of the transmission box. A hard plastic connector, which clicks on the side of the transmission, a hard plastic ring that is to be glued in the hub carrier, and a boot made from a heavy duty rubber component, that seals around both ends, making sure no unwanted stuff will get in your drive cups ever again. Running Hemiboots combined with the HPI 5T, SS or RTR V2 arms cause’s clearance issues due to the shock touching the rubber; using HemiRisers takes care of this matter and will allow for compatibility.

Note:

The Hemiboots are not compatible with ANY reinforced drive cups.

New cars and trucks from FG Modelsports

New cars & trucks being presented in Germany by FG Modelsport

Looks like FG has some surprises up their sleeve for the upcoming Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany. This show is huge and often times is a hot place for new products to be released within the R/C industry.

The news comes from a post made by the US FG distributor DDM on RCLargeScale.com. Stay tuned to either of those locations and I am sure DDM will keep us all informed.

We expect FG to go public with details once the show has started and I am especially excited to see whats under these bodies. Often times FG will announce a new model but under the fancy new shell is often times a re-do of a current model. I would love to see something new  and exciting come from them.

Two points to be made about this flyer. One is you will notice the “BMW Style” body is the exact replica of the full size truck body made by John of RCP. See his interview and view details of that body HERE. The second thing of interest is the promotion of electric 1/5 scale models badged as Epower. Brushless large scale seems to be getting more and more popular from what we are seeing HERE. We are looking forward to seeing more about this and whats inside these machines.

Models noted on the flyer below are Monster Truggy, SC Truck, FGX6-SC, 1:5 Sportline 4WD 530-E, Baja Buggy WB535B 4WD and the Baja Buggy WB535 4WD.
