Looks what Germany gets to see this week. A new 1/5 Large Scale from Losi in the form of a WRC 4WD Rally Car! WOW Losi is on fire these last few months.
Couple things to notice off the bat is the Electric start feature and the new EFI fuel injection. Both feature never before available in a RTR large scale from a big manufacture. As we learn more about these features I will update everyone in a new post here on LSN.
For now, just take a look below to see whats new with the Losi 5IVE WRC 1/5 Scale 4WD Rally car!
Losi® is proud to present the definitive RC rallycross experience with the 5IVE MINI WRC. This officially licensed replica of the John Cooper Works (JCW) World Rally Championship (WRC) MINI Countryman personifies the essence of rallycross performance with an outstanding design and authoritative 4WD power. To better power through the off-road the 5IVE MINI WRC is equipped with a powerful 29cc gasoline engine, and an extremely capable shaft driven 4wd drive train with 3 viscous differentials for even power distribution. The patent-pending Spektrum™ AVC (Active Vehicle Control) technology system has been included so drivers can make the most of the high speed potential of the 5IVE MINI WRC regardless of the driving environment.
Since the announcement of the Losi Desert Buggy XL 1/5 Large Scale the specs were available but numbers are not always easy to digest when not compared to what you used to looking at. So LSN took the new Losi DBXL and compared it to the Losi 5IVE-T, HPI Baja 5SC and the HPI Baja 5B. We compare basic specs and weight and show you side by side how the cars compare.
We think the new Losi DBXL is a great size, really not far off from the HPI Baja 5SC yet it’s 4WD which if you have driven a large scale 4WD then you know the excitement that can bring to large R/C bashing and racing. We will work on more videos where we compare the cars in a more technical way for those interested. You can also expect some good old fashion bash testing of the new Losi Desert Buggy DBXL.
At $999.99 for a RTR 4WD Buggy from a major manufacture like Losi you can not go wrong in our opinion. Even if the DBXL needs some help in the aftermarket parts area, we still think this is going to be a winning platform for Losi and the large scale industry.
Bartolone Racing wasted no time producing the industries first Tuned Pipe and Billet Clutch Carrier for the new Losi Desert Buggy XL DBXL 1/5 Large Scale 4WD RTR.
Bartolone is world famous for producing product that is in demand for those who like performance and expect nothing but the best. The DBXL tuned pipe will come in black, chrome, and raw finish and will bring some serious horsepower to the new Losi.
The Billet Clutch Carrier for the new Losi Desert Buggy XL DBXL is a surely needed part as we all know the clutch carrier is the first plastic piece to melt and deform quickly with heavy bashing sessions that these Desert Buggy’s will be put through.
So if your looking for hop-up parts for your Losi DBXL then check out the Bartolone Tuned Pipe and Billet Clutch Carrier available NOW at TGN.
Losi Desert Buggy XL is now shipping to lucky owners
Some very lucky owners are receiving their new 1/5 Scale 4WD Losi DBXL in hand as of this week. The 1/5 Large Scale market has not seen a 4WD from a major manufacture like Losi for less than the $1600 Losi 5IVE-T. The $999.99 MAP price on this new Desert Buggy XL is a major move on the part of Losi and should make some waves within our industry.
We here at LargeScaleNews have received our unit from TGN, if you looking to pick up one yourself then get them now because they are still in stock and shipping within the US is FREE! Check them out!

Introducing the new Losi 1/5 Scale 4WD Desert Buggy RTR LOS05001
Well the word is official now. Losi has been working on a new 1/5 scale for all us large scale fanatics. The Losi 4WD Desert Buggy which is an RTR 1/5 scale model LOS05001. There is no doubt this is in fact the buggy we talked about in these spy shots posted on LSN a while back.
We have seen a big move to open wheel buggy racing in large scale. Racers have simply have removed the truck body panels on the Losi 5IVE-T and made mostly flat panels to allow the wheels to be open and free. This has become a different class and quit popular. You can see pictures of how those look running at the TeamChase race HERE.
There is no question the Losi Desert Buggy XL is an all new machine from ground up. With our first look there seems to be all new parts, nothing seems to cross over from the Losi 5IVE-T. So a good comparison in specs is something LSN will work on shortly. Including a full review of the Losi DBXL Desert Buggy XL soon!
The Losi 1/5 Scale Desert Buggy XL will no doubt be the talk of the town for some time now and you can watch LSN for all the breaking news and media. I am sure our manufactures will be chomping at the bit to get one so aftermarket parts for the Losi Desert Buggy XL is sure to be in our future here.

TeamChase 5IVE-T 300M Drive Cups – Front, Rear, Center
Check out these super strong Drive Cups from TeamChase. Tired of replacing your stock cups from being worn out? Then these 300M drive cups are for you. If TeamChase has tested them on their track with the recent race series then you know these are built to last. Check out the details below.
The team chase drive cups are a direct replacement for the stock cups. Our goal was to make a drive cup that will last longer than the differential, the bearings, diff oil, and most likely the truck. After months of testing, racing, and just beating the cups tank after tank we are happy to release Team Chase drive cups.
Our cups have gone through a multi step heat treating process to result in a material that is far superior to the stock drive cups.
