Mammuth looks to Crowdsourcing for funds…

Mammuth looks for your help to build more Rewarron’s

The guys at Mammuth Works have turned to crowdsourcing for help to move their project along. Mammuth Works is making a huge 1/3 scale R/C truck called the Rewarron which we talked about earlier and still continue to update you on with videos and such.

They are using a site called pleasefund.us which is simular to the US site called KickStarter that we have mentioned in our Midweek Surfing in the past.

If your interested in helping or possibly buying a Rewarron, head over HERE to read more.

2012 HPI West Coast Nationals – Pictures and Video

HPI West Coast 2012 Nats – Pics and Vid from TeamChase

TeamChase and their team were nice enough to send in pictures and video from this weekends HPI West Coast Baja Nationals at Irvine Lake. They were able to set up a booth and share their products and offer support on location at the weekends event Saturday.

Get Pictures HERE! Video Below!

Because HPI was behind this event they only allowed HPI branded cars and trucks. Which in the past years that actually made sense to some degree. For one its THEIR event and they get to make the decisions  BUT there were also no other leading brand making and selling large scale cars or trucks in the USA.

With the release of the Losi 5IVE-T last year it has been a popular choice for racers and most the attention from aftermarket brands are leaning towards that platform. So holding a race for ONLY the HPI Baja to us is not a platform that will work long term. Word is there were about 30 entries and almost half were HPI employees. To me that is proof that this platform is not capable of getting the big turnouts anymore.

So how do we run bigger and better events in large scale and who will do it? The backing from the larger manufactures is helpful but with 30 racers for a national event is writing on the wall of the eventual collaps of large scale racing. So whats next? Feel free to post your comments or thoughts below.

Team Associated Large Scale 1/5 Scale – 1/6 Scale Soon

Team Associated 1/5 or 1/6 Large Scale SC5 or SC6?

So the question is what scale will the new Associated Large Scale be? 1/5 or 1/6 and what will it be called? SC5, SC6, RC5T, RC6T or something all together different?

Why are we posing this question you ask? Because rumor mill is running strong the past few months of a new large scale RC coming from Associated. Especialy over the last few weeks, TGN headquarters reports getting calls or emails “almost daily” with customer wanting to know more. Large Scale RC fans expect TGN to be “in the know” since they were a part of the production and release of the Losi 5IVE-T back at the Hostile event. TGN says “they know nothing”.

So this leaves us all guessing then. With some rummors stating that the release could come as early as an event in Southern California in the coming months. If Associated was making a large scale platform, what are the specs you would want to see? 1/5 or 1/6? Short Course or Buggy or maybe a first of its kind Truggy? 2WD or 4WD? How would you build your favorite Large Scale truck or buggy?

Follow this link to RCLargeScale forums and tell us what you think. Or just be nosey and read what others are dreaming about.

Tony Screws Kit for the Losi 5IVE-T – In the works

Tony Screw Kit for the Losi 5IVE-T will be here soon.

Get on the “Notify Me” list NOW. Click HERE!

Looks like TGN has let the cat out of the bag. Tony’s Screws is officially working on a Losi 5IVE-T screw kit. Not only are these by FAR the best screw kit out on the market due to the strength of the 12.9 allow steel but they are one of the nicest packaged kits with more screw per kit that most others. The 5IVE-T kit is expected to have over 400 pieces. Each screw size is in its own labeled  bag allowing for easy access to the screws you want. It also makes it nice when you want to replenish your stock, all ya gotta do is look at your label on the bag and order those screws.

The other good news is Tony is working with members of the RCLargeScale forum who own the Losi 5IVE-T and who have suggestions on modifications to the kit. Mostly referring to the needed longer length on many of the screws in the Losi kit. Because Losi runs screw into plastic as apposed to a captured nut like other manufactures it’s often important to make sure you using all the length of a screw thats possible. The Losi factory seemed to cut things a little short on many of the screws and users find these backing out of their 5IVE.

Take a look at the thread HERE and add any suggestions or comments that you thing will be helpful.

RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ tires for Losi 5IVE-T and HPI Baja

RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Tires Losi 5IVE-T & HPI

Looked what LSN just got wind of! LSN EXCLUSIVE!

The king of scale tires for R/C just announced the newest hot product for large scale fans. LSN today announces the RC4WD Officially Licensed Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Tires for 1/5 scale trucks. This is a single size tire, meaning it fits both front and rear of the popular Losi 5IVE-T 1/5 truck and also the front only of the HPI baja 5t and 5sc.

RC4WD has been coming up with some great officially licensed products lately and we are happy to see this concept come into play with a large scale product for the first time. Mickey Thompson tires are legends in off-road racing and the Baja MTZ tires is the choice of pro off-road racing teams world wide. We think the scale looks of this tire and its incredible detail will really help your Losi 5IVE-T stand out in the crowd.

But RC4WD did not stop with just the looks and the name, they wanted to be sure this tire performed in various conditions and most of all held up to the abuse and use of the common 1/5 scale driver. These tires have been tested on a Losi 5IVE-T on popular r/c tracks as well as street and many other conditions. The tire should be a great option for typical racing conditions. RC4WD believes they have found the perfect compound for both durability and performance.  Read below to find out more about the new Losi 5IVE-T Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Tires.

Watch Mark Hull talk about TGN and his local Hobby Shop

Press Release from TGN Distributing:

TGN was lucky enough to have our local SBDC  office recommend to our local news channel KSEE24  to consider TGN for a special series called “Made with Pride in the Central Valley”. The show was live on the air yesterday but it’s now available for re-watch online.

We would like to thank our friends at the SBDC for all the help they have given us as a small business with the current challendges so many of us face. We recommend anyone starting or building a small business search for a local office at SBDC and consider using one or more of their many services they offer.

I would also like to thank the team at KSEE 24 for not only considering us for the spot but also for bringing attention to local businesses that are still forging away in this tuff economy. You support is important to us and we appreciate it very much.

Press Release:

Many tracks have a restriction when it comes to what type of body you run, and some are afraid that running an open wheel body will make their truck more prone to damage. These were among the reasons to develop a set of fenders for the Penta body. We kept a few things in mind: looks, function, quality, easy installation and cost.

You can now turn your open wheel Penta shell into a full-blood shortcourse truck in a matter of minutes. Simply undo the screws that hold the bodypanels on the rollcage of your Losi 5ive, install the fenders and tighten the screws again. We used all the stock mounting holes for this piece of kit, making sure installation is as easy as it can get. This is the worlds first fully modular 5th scale body system!
