Losi 5IVE-T Officially Shipping Today

You heard right! The Losi 5IVE-T is officialy shipping today from their parent company Horizon Hobby. It feels like its been a year since it’s first appearance at the Hostile Bajafest only months ago but it’s here and ready now.

TGN is taking their Black Friday and spending it driving down to the Horizon warehouse to pick up a load of these trucks just to make sure we have them for us to start shipping on Monday. We will also have a HUGE amount of stock replacement parts and aftermarket parts from Losi and other companies in the coming days. Some parts are already in stock from Losi.

Traxxas Product X is it a 1/5 Scale RC?

Here at LSN we are always watching out for industry rumors. We have reported on many rumors and industry news bits that could effect our niche hobby. In the years past there has been rumors of Associated, Traxxas and of course Losi working on large scale R/C cars or truck. We know now the Losi rumor was true with the release of the 5IVE-T. But what about the others? Are they too building large scale cars to be released soon?

For now its all rumors and speculation but for now lets watch this Traxxas update on 11-30-11 and see if our hopes and dreams come true. It would be fun to have another player in Large Scale and if I know Traxxas they would be a great contendor and probably bring one of the best values to 1/5 that we have seen so far.

Oh well…its a silly little 100mph car. Video is well done, car looks cool but its not what the masses wanted I dont think. It is refreshing to see how many people all over the web have asked, hoped and dreamed it would be a 1/5 scale. I think we are getting to them now folks…maybe they will listen…???

Castle Creations Brushless HPI Baja’s

in the Imperial Sand Dunes

Check out the new work of Craftwerks-RC! Taking footage from our Dunetoberfest 2011 trip they were able to put together 2-1/2 minutes of killer footage of our HPI Baja 5b and TeamFastEddy’s  5SC, Both of which were converted to brushless with the Castle Creations conversion kit. The video shows us reaching 57MPH IN THE SAND!

Thanks Craftwerks-RC for mixing that great video together for us! We have been waiting a long time to get this build into the sand and it was truly and amazing experience to have all the unlimited amount of torque AND amazing top speed.

Losi stock and Losi branded aftermarket parts are

now in stock at TGN!

Well we are all still waiting for the official release and availability of the Losi 5IVE-T 1/5 Scale 4WD BND. The rumors on the street is by the end of November some time we should see the truck arriving at local hobby stores across the globe. We have also heard that November 20th is going to be officially the ship dates yet that is this Sunday so we are not sure how that will play out.

BZM-Micro 28.5cc Engine and Parts now in stock at TGN!

TGN is currently stocked with the popular 28.5cc Engine as well as a full line of parts. Currently the 28.5cc engine is the only size we are stocking but we expect the 23cc and 26cc to come in soon for those not quiete ready for the full 8hp model.

We recently installed this engine into a special Dunetoberfest build wich you can see below or in the album HERE. At first we ran the TGN track pipe which worked real well for us and had gobs of power. Later that weekend Chris Bartalone brought us a tuned pipe he had made specifically for this engine. Remember, this engine can use any standard tuned pipe for the baja but the actual exhaust port IS larger than stock AND the engine seems to really like big pipes. So in order to take full advantage of this engine we had Bartalone build us a BZM specific pipe wich brought us even more power and even smoother power bands.

We also took this car to the 2011 HPI West Coast Baja Nationals where we ran it around the track for a bit. Unfortunately we had bad traction for a muddy track and way too much power for our amateur racer. But you could still see and hear the power this engine was putting out throwing the mud everywhere.

We have found no faults of this motor so far, we love it. It starts with ease, it idles smooth and pulls hard with LOTS of RPM’s. It really was an enjoyable car to drive in the dunes, where there is never too much power. We hope to gather our footage soon from that weekend and bring those to you on youtube.

RCP has beed one of our favorite vendors in 1/5 scale. They are a small company that not only makes a quality product but they back it up with service and support you would expect from the big boys. TeamChase RC Quick Tips #3 – Exhaust Header Wrap
