This new material is easier to install than the gray boots were and they still allow the use of any and all greases without worry of the boots softening or swelling from petroleum grease.
For chemical reasons they are being produced in black.

Get all your upgrades for your HPI Baja 5b, 5t, 5sc and SS or your new Losi 5IVE-T.
You get a Losi 5IVE-T or HPI baja under your tree this year?
So undoubtedly there were many lucky men and women this holiday season who received the gift of all gifts…. a 1/5 large scale R/C car or truck from HPI Racing, Losi or one of the other manufactures. Well if this is you, CONGRATULATIONS! You must have been real good to get this gift. So let us help you by giving you some simple directions on what to do next.
For the Losi 5IVE-T customers start with Step 1.. For the HPI Baja owners skip to Step 2.
Step 1. Losi 5IVE-T Bulletin
The very first thing you want to do is confirm you are not one of the people with some short screws in your chassis that Losi has made us aware of. Check into that HERE.
Step 2. Setup and Break-In
Now lets get you started on the basics.
For the Losi 5IVE-T owners you can watch a 5 part series by TeamFastEddy :
Or you can watch the official Horizon Setup video for the Losi 5IVE-T:
TeamFastEddy also has a 7 part series on setup of a HPI Baja 5T which is also going to be good for the HPI Baja 5b, 5sc or SS:
Step 3. Run it!
Enough youtube…. Go run it!
Step 4. Turn off radio and breathe
That was fun right? I am sure you will agree, it’s like no other R/C you have ever driven. So now what you ask? Well now the fun really begins, because it’s now time to clean, adjust and maintain. You ask what’s so fun about all that? Oh well I skipped one thing…MODIFICATION. Yep, maintenance and repairs are very minimal on large scale so you will find yourself doing more modification than anything else. Billet parts, suspension upgrades, cosmetic bolt-ons, custom paint, body upgrades and the most important….ENGINE upgrades and tuned pipes. Yes, the HPI Baja and the Losi 5IVE-T are fast cars for their size and weight. But most owners of these fine vehicles will find themselves upgrading to at least a tuned pipe.
Currently the most in demand pipe for the Losi 5IVE-T is the Bartalone pipe found HERE.
As for a HPI baja pipe, this platform has been out for many years so your choices are endless, you can browse them all HERE.
Or you can go ALL OUT and get the motor of all motors. The BZM 28.5cc engine found HERE. It’s 8+HP is enough to grab anyones attention. Check out the video tab on that page and enjoy.
Step 5. Protect it
That’s right. Dont spend thousands of dollars on your new R/C and not protect the engine and its vital parts. Here are some suggestions.
Both HPI Baja and Losi 5IVE-T owners will appreciate this part, its the most sold aftermarket part in the history of large scale R/C. Outerwears Pull Start Filter.
Or remove the stock filter completely and go for an easy to remove and maintenance 3 stage performance filter by DT1. Get it for your HPI Baja or your LOSI 5IVE-T.
Dont forget to protect the other chassis parts on the Losi 5IVE-T, check out some of the option by TeamChaseHERE.
Step 6. Make it yours
There are a TON of aftermarket goodies made for the HPI Baja 5b, 5t, 5sc and SS that will really separate your car or truck from the rest. Check out the thousands of parts listed HERE.
For the Losi 5IVE-T owners looking to upgrade and modify their new truck with hopups etc, your choices are a bit more limited at the moment but you can check out the growing list of items HERE. Look for quality items like the Craftwerks-RC light pods and the DarkSoulclutch carrier.
Step 7. Emerse and educate yourself
Watch hundreds upon hundreds of instructional videos, action videos, event coverage, question & answers and so much more. At www.RCLargeScale.com
Step 8. Enjoy
The last and final recommend step. Just enjoy it. Use it, dont be afraid to take these large cars and trucks to the next level. They are big and overbuilt for a reason…so you can GO BIG! Keep an eye here on LSN for tips, reviews and event coverage. We hope to see you soon at one of the many event throughout the year. Welcome to the club.
3D Animation of a HPI Baja 5b being built from start to finish
This is a pretty cool video. Passed on to me by TeamChase. I know nothing about the owner of the video or who did it, I can not read the language. But none the less it’s an impressive 3D animation of a HPI Baja 5b being built from start to finish, one piece at a time and in the proper order.
Check out the video:
This one is kind of cool too but not as good as the one above:
John Schultz of HPI does it again…impresses us with his skills
John Schultz of HPI is well known in our community. He travels around the country for HPI Racing putting on events, racing, checking on dealers and putting on a great show. Check out the video below, he hits a HUGE MX ramp and captures it with his on board go-pro camera. While your at it, check out his YouTube Channel HERE.
A few weeks back TGN Distributing received their first batch of the Large Scale MSR Swivel Tilt Stand. We quickly opened one up and designated it as our own for use around our shop and store. We had been looking for a more simplified stand for a while now, something that was easy to ship and that would fit inside of the boxes we use to transport our 1/5 scale R/C’s. This stand fit our requirements, it is small, light weight, inexpensive and works perfectly for light duty repairs and maintenance and also does double duty as a display stand for the many trade shows and events we travel too.
The “Pro’s” are mentioned above and obvious. The “Con’s” if any are that the base is fairly small for the big heavy trucks and the height is also limited. BUT those two things can be easily fixed by adding an additional wood base to the lower base plate that would increase its footprint and its height.
Even with its light weight and smaller base plate, this thing works and works well. I can take and throw a HPI baja or Losi 5IVE-T on top of it and spin it around, rock it back and forth and the stand or the truck is not going anywhere. I am also able to work on or display my 1/10 scale cars and trucks on this stand, which is why I like it so much. It’s a stable and worthy working platform thats for sure.
Please watch our review where we show you the details of this stand and also show you a simple modification to the top plate, we add rubber matting for a better grip.
The boys over at BZM-Micro have been posting up some new videos of their Losi 5IVE-T in action with the BZM 28.5cc engine equipped with a special tuned pipe that we are told is in the works.
You can purchase the Bizeta BZM-Micro engines at TGN HERE.
Check out their videos below. And to tune into their current builds and other things going on about the Losi 5IVE-T check out the Losi forum HERE.
This is a cool video covering “generalizations” of the Bizeta 28.5cc compared to a CY engine.
Now they show you hot to install the BZM 28.5cc, 23cc or 26cc engine into a Losi 5IVE-T
Now they take it for a spin, check out these videos
Hemistorm is a manufacture of aftermarket hop-up parts for the HPI Baja and has promised to come out of the gate hitting hard on the new Losi 5IVE-T. We have not seen any new parts but he did make this post showing the details of how he painted his new Losi 5IVE-T body.
Check out all the pictures and post your comments on THIS post at RCLargeScale.com.

The Loot: $1,900 in donations were raised to go straight to the foundation along with 17+ large boxes filled with toys for the less fortunate.
The location: TeamChase Compound is in the beautiful Southern California city of Perris (just off the 15 headed to vegas from LA). The compound sits on top of mountain with amazing views and limited neighbors in sight (thats good when you have your own 1/5 scale track..haha).
The Wrap Up:
Several valuable items were donated to the big raffle which raised funds for the Toys for Tots Foundation. The total raised for these items was just over $1,700.00. Here are the items donated and images of the winners.

A new SC Wide Body was donated by RCP which was won by this lucky lady.

TeamFastEddy also held his own side raffle for one of his popular work stands for the HPI Baja. Ironically Gary of Team Losi won the stand but was promised he would get the new Losi top plate soon. Eddies raffle raised an additional $210 for the Toys for Tots Foundation. Thank you Ed!

Both HPI Racing and Losi Racing were present at this event and playing nicely pitted right next to each other. Way to go guys! Thanks for your support!

The turnout was excellent, I believe it was increased by a good amount from last year. Weather was a little iffy across LA so I do believe some may have skipped out on making the trip based off their local weather. Either way it was great to see so many of the regulars as well as some of the new guy and gals out at the Chase Compound.
TONS of item were donated by the event sponsors listed below. We raffled off most of them using the tickets they received when donating a toy. The others we done by people lining up and getting handed items as they passed by the Marine Master Sargent

Some new items were being tested out at this event. Including several TeamChase Losi 5IVE-T items like this skid plate that was beat down all weekend with no issues. Pick up this part and others HERE.
And this DarkSoul 5IVE-T Billet Clutch Carrier took the abuse of stunt driver Mark Hull.
The big shock of the weekend I think came from Barndog Racing. Check out his new panels he is working on for the TeamChase cage for the HPI Baja. WOW! Coming soon to TGN!

Special Thanks goes out to “DJ Maytag”, our good friend Mike Phelps was there all day and night pumping out the tunes as he was last year. If your in Southern California and your in need of a new bed or appliances, please support his store, Action Maytag in Temecula.

The TeamChase Toys for Tots Drive would not be the same without In-N-Out which is completely sponsored by TeamChase each year. YUM YUM!

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to the TeamChase Family, which makes this event possible and allows all us boys and girls to play at their compound for the weekend. You are truly special people to this industry and we appreciate all that you do.
Special Thanks to these sponsors:
The END. Thank you all for coming and thanks to all the sponsors. Another successful large scale event. See you all next year. Happy Holidays from LSN!
