If they do anything new on coverage for the Losi 5IVE-T we will for sure post it here on LSN. Or even better just subscribe to their channel now HERE.

RADIOPOST now at TGN Distributing – Mini Review

RadioPost radios and servos now available at TGN

Find the RADIOPOST product on TGN HERE!

We first saw the RADIOPOST brand displayed at the RCX show in 2011 Pomona. We were impressed by the design and features of this radio. But we had decided to not just jump on the bandwagon with this new brand, we held off and requested we test the radio in the  rigorous conditions we knew our large scale fans would use it in. This meant it was going to be put through the ringer and RADIOPOST was up for the challenge and shipped us a radio to try out.

Our first trip with the radio was to what would ultimately be the biggest test of all. The hot and vast california desert that we use for Dunetoberfest. Thats right, we wanted to put this radio to the real test of running in the deep bowls of Buttercup recreation park.  I was not easy on this radio, I tossed it in the back of the Rhino each and ever trip out WITHOUT a case or box, just naked bouncing all over the place between our baja’s. I drove several large scale cars and trucks in and around the bowls even trying to get it out of range by dipping between bowls where the car would be out of sight. Nothing stopped the radio and car from being synced up and working properly. It passed the test.

The next stop for the RADIOPOST radio was the West Cost Baja Nationals. We brought the radio and our BZM 28.5cc racing baja and had our very own Kenny K drive in the novice class. We thought this would be a good test around all the other radios and signals etc. Again it passed with flying colors.

We have been using the radio for some time now, in our shop and in outside testing and bashing. We used it in our Losi Brushless 5IVE-T bashing video test and others with no issues what so ever.

The Scoop –

There were really only 3 issues we had with this radio. The first was the price but we are happy to announce that since our review the retail price has dropped by almost $100 to $289.99.

The second issue was the radio did not have any type of failsafe and if you run large scale R/C you know this is an important feature for you, a must have. Well good news, all new radios shipping from here on out have firmware updates with the failsafe feature built in.

And lastly we had issue with the screens contrast in bright light. Especially the bright surroundings of the California Desert. It was not a deal breaker for us because once we are out in the open running our cars and we do not get into the menu system that often or need to see the screen. And if we needed to we would just shield it with our hands and get what we needed adjusted and back to carving the dunes.

The bottom line is we enjoy this radio a lot. It looks insanely cool, it feel great in your hands and performs flawlessly with our large scale trucks. We are happy to give this our stamp of approval and have already stocked our shelves at TGN so we can offer this radio to the masses. Go ahead, order one up and be the first at the track to get your hands on the coolest radio out there.

Losi 5IVE-T Billet Differentials from DarkSoul – Unleashed

Losi 5IVE-T Billet Differentials from DarkSoul

Part Numbers: DSR7011 (front & rear) DSR7013 (center)

Product Links: Front & RearCenter

Press Release:

DarkSoul Racing 7075 Billet Diff Housings

The new DarkSoul Racing billet differential housings are machined from 7075 T6* aluminum to give you the strongest possible diff housing we can for your Losi 5IVE-T. We are offering two separate types of housings, the “Standard” housing has the same outer dimensions as the factory housing so it will fit into the front and rear diff cases.

The center diff is also constructed from 7075 T6 aluminum, but has a very unique design feature. We have designed and machined in a series of radial cooling fins that not only act as a great heat sink for the differential assembly, but also blow a small amount of air across the spur gear to help with further cooling. In our testing, we have seen temperature drops at the actual diff case and the front drive cup of as much as 50ºF , simply by switching to the Turbine Diff housing. Less heat equals less wear. As well, with the center diff running cooler, the differential will be more consistant in its performance.

Utilizing aluminum (as opposed to plastic) you will not have the issues of the plastic diff housing holes stripping out from rebuilds/fluid replacement, or flexing under the torque/HP of more powerful engines which ultimately cause the diffs to leak.

The billet diff kits include a new diff housing and diff cap (2 piece design), required assembly hardware, and a new diff housing to gear gasket, and spacer shims to properly space the bearing. It is required that you use a very small amount of liquid gasket when assembling the diff housing and cap as shown in the included instructions.

*7075 T6 aluminum has a maximum tensile strength of 83000 psi compared to 6061 T6 aluminum which has a maximum tensile strength of 45000 psi

Turtle Racing V2 pull start exposed and almost ready for prime time.

Turtle Racing V2 billet pull start almost ready

We had heard rumors for some time now that Turle Racing was working on a new and improved aftermarket billet pullstarter assembly. But this is not a simple billet housing or cover. No this is the real deal, ALL new parts starting from a ground up design over improving where needed over the stock system.

From this sneak peak video from TeamChase we can see several cool features including a beefy rope, 3 fingered pull handle and an indexed exit allowing the rope to come out at any angle you prefer for the HPI Baja, Losi 5IVE-T, FG, MCD etc.. The pawl and the receiving end mounted to the flywheel appear to be all new as well. Can you spot anything else? Comment below.

Check out the video below and come back to this post as we will update you when we know more.

DarkSoul shows you how to install a Hitec 5755MG into a Losi 5IVE-T

 DarkSoul slams a Hitec 5755MG in a Losi 5IVE-T

I have transplanted my old Rhino Digi 4 (now the Hitec 5755MG – ht199 ) into my Losi using the DarkSoul Meaty Mount Servo Adapter –

TGN – Darksoul Meaty Mount Servo Adapter for the HPI Baja.

It is a perfect fit, and does not alter the throttle or brake linkage angles. Also, the stock Losi arm is a perfect fit onto the output shaft.

The 5755 at 347 oz/in @ 6v and a great price at $87.00 is pretty hard to beat. I have been using this Digi 4 for several years, and have multiple 5755 versions in all my other large scale rigs, and have only ever burned one up, which was actually my own fault from not having end points correctly set up, and even then, HiTec was great in replacing it no charge.

I have some added bits on here, the spacer attached to the mount for the brake brace IS NOT part of the Meaty Mount. Also, to make this work, you will need to space the left side of the servo up just a hair with some small washers, or some other form of spacer to be perfectly level. Also, please be aware that the hardware included with the Meaty Mount is standard, so you will need to use that hardware when utilizing the Meaty Mount.

MMR montage of the LSOR Challenge cup 2012

MMR montage of the LSOR Challenge Cup 2012 coverage

Last weekend seen the first LSOR challenge cup to be held in the UK.

The event was held at a wonderful venue. It is a fully working equine centre. The track was built on the dressage arena. The surface was a mixture of sand and fibre.

This event was important for a few reasons It was the first indoor Largescale race held in the UK and it seen the formation of the LSOR Short Course class. This now means there can be a national SC champion in the UK.

The class was created to fit the Losi as the Losi 5ive T fell outside quite a few regulations from both EFRA and the BRCA.

The Losi class was a popular class at the event with some 14 drivers entered.

One of TLR’s stars Darren Bloomfield was in attendance and TQ’d but missed the final due to his wife going into labour! Congratulations to Darren and his wife.

The track was very rough towards the end of the meet and the losi’s lapped it up every Losi making the final finished and Losi managed a 1,2,3 result with some strong competition from the MCD W5’s

Even the German national champion Mark Krisig couldn’t beat the losi’s with his W5!

Congratulations to Mark Pearson from Uber RC for his win in the SC class.
