New DDM Dominator for the Losi 5IVE-T

DDM Dominator Now Available for the Losi 5IVE-T 1/5

It was only a matter of time until DDM was going to do a Dominator for the Losi 5IVE-T 1/5 truck. The DDM Dominator pipe for the HPI baja 5b and 5t has been one of the hottest selling pipes to hit the market…period. Between the fit and finish, the quality and the price their Dominator pipes have dominated the market (no pun intended).

DDM pulled no punches here, they pulled out all the stops and created a unique pipe with plenty of great features here. It looks to mount on the Losi 5IVE-T like no other pipe has yet and is also rubber mounted. We like the idea of it being mounted to the engine, as aposed to the chassis where you see a lot of flex and eventually cracks on tuned pipes. This exhaust system looks to pack a lot of features for the price of $169.00 and I am sure this model will become a leader in this space.

I have not seen any reviews or videos of this product but we hope to get our hands on one soon and get you some feedback. Details below:

DDM Dominator for the Losi 1/5 Scale 5IVE-T

New from DDM! This new Dominator® pipe was developed through months of extensive in-house testing and prototyping, and custom-designed for maximum performance.

This new Dominator® pipe for your Losi 5ive will give you the power you crave! Gives snappy low-end response, as well as huge power boosts through the midrange, and top RPMs.

The DDM Dominator® pipe features top-quality steel alloy construction, flexible header coupling, ultra-sturdy adjustable mounting system, and jaw-dropping high polish show chrome finish. Includes genuine Zenoah exhaust gasket, installation instructions, and mounting hardware.

In addition to incredible performance and appearance, this pipe boasts a rock-solid mounting system, ensuring your pipe will be well-protected. Installs and removes quickly and easily for ease of use. Separate header piece allows for quicker removal, while also allowing for fitment adjustment. A pre-bent silicone exhaust tube connects to the end of the pipe, and flows the exhaust out the side of the vehicle.

The mounting design of this pipe keeps engine removal from your chassis a breeze. The pipe is mounted completely to the engine so removal and maintenance is just as easy as before.

As the Losi is 4WD and heavy, it is underpowered in the area of low end torque. In designing this pipe, we focused primarily on this area. It is a beast on low end, and results in significant top end gains as well.

This pipe keeps its weight centered over the engine and the center of the car – so you don’t have to deal with the car being unevenly weighted to the side or rear. When the roll cage/body are put back onto the truck, there is still plenty of clearance and room to spare. Access to the pull starter remains unrestricted.

Go with the best… Go with the DDM Dominator®!

Installation instructions available here:

Weight is approx 1.7 pounds (0.77kg). Pipe is covered by lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects from DDM. Fits Zenoah and Chung Yang engines. Fits the stock 26 “Fuelie” engine on the Losi 5ive, also fits most all other 23cc-30.5cc engines and/or top ends.

HemiStorm RC painting tutorial part 1 of 2

HemiStorm RC painting tutorial part 1 of 2

Chris from Hemistorm was nice enough to post the first of a 2 part series on painting tips. Chris is known for his detailed paint schemes that are always done with no computer cut decals or masks. He does everything by hand with hand drawn and hand cut masking tape. Yet still retaining a very detailed finish and profesional look.

Check out the video below and when we see part 2 come we will post that as well. Enjoy!

Robot Kitchen Teams Up with TGN and Barndog Racing

Robot Kitchen Scale Animatronic Interior HPI 5SC 5T 1/5 Large Scale

Robot Kitchen Teams Up with TGN and Barndog Racing

Interested in seeing some of the coolest video to come out of the large scale scene? Well large scale fanatics, meet RobotKitchen. It did not take long for us after we first started browsing the youtube channel of RobotKitchen before we absolutly fell in love with their concept. The geniuses at Robot Kitchen have taken basic concept of making a large scale radion control truck with a driver and steering wheel and taken it to a whole new level.

They have taken a TeamChase roll cage on their HPI Baja 5t and built a complete scale inteiror with a driver, co-pilot, steering wheel, shifter, dash gauges, a floor board and so much more. What’s so special about that you ask? While that is pretty cool on its own, they took it to the next level. Hollywood Movie Magic level! These drivers have moving heads left to right as the truck weaves in and out of the action in front of it. But it’s not just the heads that move, the driver has their arms attached to the steering wheel which also moves in the same direction as the 1/5 scale HPI Baja 5T.

To top it all off they have made the driver a girl, that’s right a girl! Her name is Daisy and you can image the style of driving this 5T gets itself into. Even better RobotKitchen has cameras mounted all over this rig for different views of all the exciting action. On the second video below they even dubbed in the sound effect from a full scale racer. Check out the videos below or just pop on over to his youtube channel and watch his entire collection.

How could that make this any better you ask? Well the gang at RobotKitchen has teamed up with both TGN and Barndog Racing to build a new project truck. This collaborative project between these companies will bring the audience a new truck with new details as well as a whole new series of videos and in depth details you have never seen.

Keep you eyes on LSN for the newest releases and detailed posts to come soon. We hope you enjoy this project

Atomic MM 450 Metal Mulisha 1/4 Scale RC Dirtbike – Mini Review with video

Atomic MM 450 Metal Mulisha R/C Dirtbike

Atomic MM 450 Metal Mulish R/C Dirt Bike – Mini Review

There are days within my week that can be pretty boring and mundane. But some are just so much better than others that those are the days that make it all worth it. The day the Atomic (also known as Venom Group) MM 450 Metal Mulisha Brian Deegan R/C dirt bike came in was one of those days. I was like a kid on Christmas! Read our mini review below where we share our first thoughts and a short video on our maiden voyage.

Get more factory specs and details about pricing to purchase one of these Atomic MM 450 radio control dirt bikes HERE!

Our first thought was “WOW, this bike is HUGE!” It is 1/4 scale and it looked so cool next to our 1/5 scale RC’s at the shop. The size of the motorcycle allows for so much detail, from the lexan body with factory Rock Start and Metal Mulisha stickers to the chain and sprocket driven rear wheel. The handle bars and front end are true to scale as you would expect. Oh and don’t let me forget Mr. Brian Deegan himself was detailed in his full ridding suit and all. He’s made of a VERY durable foam that outlasted our bash session as you will see below.

The bike comes with an included lipo battery pack which is standard size and fits in right into the skid plate upwards toward the handlebars. You have to fish your wires through an area near the gas tank but a needle nose pliers does the job every time. Once you plug in the battery pack and turn on the bike you are immediately surprised by the sound of the gyro running in the rear wheel-so much so they put a warning sticker that explains the noise is ok and is expected. Kinda funny…the other thing you will notice when going through your preliminary check, is that the steering is reversed from what many will expect (myself included). The bike works by leaning, so when you want to go right, the bike turns the steering wheel to the left which makes the bike lean to the right. It’s just like the real deal, but for some silly reason I was thinking it would be different.

We opted to install the side “guide wires” (a sort of training wheels) to ensure we keep him up and running while we learn to drive this motorcycle. We simply tossed it forward and away we went, driving down the street. The issue with driving on the street is that the guide wires catch and drag and make for very wide turning radiuses. It was difficult to get it to turn within a wide two lane road, at least for us newbies.  The traction of the street also gave us silly wheeling power, which was cool but we wanted to be in the “dirt” with this dirt bike. So it was time to take it to the dirt in a larger area to get our feet wet with its off-road capabilities.

In a much larger area the MM 450 dirt bike was a BLAST to drive! The thin metal guide wires almost disappear once it leaves your hands and all of the sudden, you’re watching a mini-me of Brian Deegan himself performing right in front of your eyes. The bike turned much sharper in the loose dirt and it handled full speed runs in rough conditions very well. I will let you see for yourself in the video (below) how fun this bike can be.

The only issues I had with the bike is that the front shock started to get stuck due to leaking oil from one side. We have already rebuilt the shock and it’s working well now. We were told by the team at Atomic that it’s important to first compress the front end one time before you drive the bike. It tends to dry out and it needs to be moved in and out once before you start to drive it. We will try that and keep you all posted. We also cracked up the body pretty good but then again we bashed it pretty hard and it’s all still in place, just kinda broken up. Maybe some aftermarket companies can make us all some thicker  bodies?

As for upgrades, besides the wheelie bar, which is just a longer extension of rear fenders wired support and the billet chain tensioner pieces, we plan to to keep this bike mostly stock for now. We will try to get some more video and an update on it’s durability and our overall experience in the near future. But for now….enjoy the video and images below!

The Penta gets fenders – Thanks Hemistorm

hemistorm penta truck body fenders

Hemistorm Penta Body grows Short Course fenders overnight

So just like that the Penta body has fenders for a Short Course Truck look. For all your Losi 5IVE-T owners who were not big fans of the open wheel look now have options. One of the cool points about this is that the Penta body is still underneath this truck body. So a few screws and presto you have a buggy again!

Watch THIS PAGE on TGN to get up to date availability status.

Check out the details below and follow along and comment on these new parts HERE.

 Press Release:

I’m very excited to announce the latest addition to the HemiStorm Penta open wheel Class 1 body, the HemiStorm Penta Fenders.

Many tracks have a restriction when it comes to what type of body you run, and some are afraid that running an open wheel body will make their truck more prone to damage. These were among the reasons to develop a set of fenders for the Penta body. We kept a few things in mind: looks, function, quality, easy installation and cost.

You can now turn your open wheel Penta shell into a full-blood shortcourse truck in a matter of minutes. Simply undo the screws that hold the bodypanels on the rollcage of your Losi 5ive, install the fenders and tighten the screws again. We used all the stock mounting holes for this piece of kit, making sure installation is as easy as it can get. This is the worlds first fully modular 5th scale body system!

My main concern with the stock body is the price of the seperate parts. The initial cost of a shortcourse Penta might be higher, but running cost and maintaining an immaculate look will be lower than the original. The fenders will be made available separately, so if you damage the left front, just replace the left front fender. No use in replacing the hood, and the right fender, if those are still in a good shape. Furthermore, the cost of all separate parts combined, will not exceed the price of a complete kit. In other words, pricing will be fair throughout. You don’t overpay because you had an accident.

Like the other parts of the Penta body these fendes are made of the highest quality lexan, come pretrimmed and predrilled and come with a clear overspray film, the best setup for all the painters out there.

For a video of the guys at TGN Distributing testing the quality by sending the HemiStorm Penta flying and having it involved in some horrific crashes, which it all withstood, click on the link below:

Hemistorm Penta Body for the Losi 5IVE-T – Durability Test Video

LSN takes out the Penta body for a ruff and tuff review.

The Hemistorm Penta body for the Losi 5IVE-T was released a few months back at RCX Long Beach and ever since then we have been wanting to get our hands on our own. Well we did better than that, we built two of them! We had the masterminds at Billet Chase Designs of TeamChase paint us up a demo body that will be kept on display in our hobby store and used for trade shows and man did it turn out sexy! We painted a second body for our test day. Or should I say bash fest? Well check out the video below and see how strong this body really is. It handled all our crash tests very well and looked GREAT while doing it.

Let us know what you think and if your interested in having a body different than the rest of the guys on the block and a seriusly strong one at that, GET YOURS HERE!
